Yukon Weather

It’s always a good idea to be well prepared for weather when traveling into Canada’s north. Luckily for you, the Yukon Territory isn’t subject to the extreme weather one would experience when traveling to destinations such as the NWT or  BC coast. Situated along the east coast of the Yukon/NWT border, the operating area of Inconnu Lodge is not subject to extreme wind or rain as is the far north or pacific coast. We operate on relatively small lakes deep in the mountains where weather can be unpredictable, but not extreme. There is seldom a day where the wind will push you off a lake or rain can be too much. The Yukon is not exempt from bad weather days, but almost never experiences the massive thunder storms or torrential downpours that last for days as do other destinations.

With a quality set of chest waders and a rain jacket to match, you are almost completely protected from the elements. Inconnu Lodge does not supply waders or rain gear. We recommend you invest in quality rain gear whether it be rain jacket and waders or rain jacket and quality waterproof bibs. Staying dry is the most important factor for your comfort when in a remote location.
