Inconnu Wildlife
The Yukon Territory is one of the last places on earth that you can view wildlife in its natural habitat - a truly natural habitat with no human reminders. In the heart of the wild Yukon, Inconnu Lodge is surrounded by boundless wildlife.
Moose outnumber humans in the Yukon by 20,000. Mountain goats and sheep run wild on the Yukon mountains. Grizzly bears munch on the wild Yukon berries and more than 200,000 caribou call the Yukon home.
Inconnu Lodge is nestled in the heart of all these animals' natural habitats - our backyard is their home! During your stay at Inconnu Lodge you can seek out all these animals and more - black bears, wolves, coyotes, foxes, beavers, marmots... just don't forget your camera!
Inconnu Lodge is a birder's paradise. Exactly 214 species of birds call the Yukon home at one point or another during the year. The Yukon is a stopover point for migratory birds flying from their winter homes in the US and South America to their summer homes in the Yukon or even further north. Like Inconnu Lodge guests, they come to the Yukon to take advantage of the space and the abundant food supply.
Birds of prey, songbirds, scavengers and waterfowl are plentiful around Inconnu Lodge. Loons, swans and geese play in the Lake McEvoy waters directly in front of the Lodge. Bald eagles, golden eagles , falcons and marsh hawks hunt around the evergreens above the Lodge. And the beautiful songbirds gently greet every Inconnu Lodge morning with a song.

Hiking and Heli-Hiking
Coming to Inconnu Lodge and hiking in the Yukon means hiking on mountains and tundra that no human has ever set foot on. You create your own path of discovery, finding remote glacier lakes and streams. Commune with nature, smelling wildflowers, spotting caribou and other wildlife or eating the bountiful mountain berries.
What is Heli-hiking? Imagine waking up in the morning, pointing to a distant mountain peak, and minutes later, after being dropped off via helicopter, you are hiking that once distant peak. Using a helicopter allows pilots to drop hikers off in hard-to-reach locations that float planes cannot access.
Hiking in the Yukon is a chance to breathe the purest air that has ever filled your lungs. So far removed from the world you know, hiking is a chance to feel at one with Yukon nature. There is nothing like a sunrise walk before breakfast on one of the many trails around the Lodge.
A guide is assigned to each party of hikers and our hiking trips are included in our lodge package. Don't forget to bring comfortable hiking shoes (that you've already broken in), because shoes are one thing that we don't sell at the Lodge Store.

Canoeing and Kayaking
Inconnu Lodge has a variety of canoes available for use by guests. One can canoe from the Lodge on McEvoy Lake down a series of small lakes and streams for up to twenty miles.
And if you seek more adventure, a canoe or kayak can even be strapped on to the side of the float plane and taken to any of the nearby lakes or streams for use in exploring the Yukon wilderness.

Photography
Summer in the Yukon provides a spectacular setting for photographers of all styles to take beautiful pictures. Photographer Scott Nelson said of Inconnu Lodge, "I have photographed all over the world, but never imagined scenes like those I found in the Yukon. Inconnu is a photographer's dream."
There is no better place in the world for a photographer to come to complete their portfolio with a number breathtaking natural shots. Snap photos of Yukon wildlife in action (don't forget your telephoto lens), majestic Yukon vistas of towering peaks or tundra wildflowers (wide angle and macro), or simply snap shots of all our photogenic guests (zoom lens).
The breathtaking environment of the Yukon will inspire you, and drive you to take incredible pictures.

Panning for Gold
In 1896, over one hundred years ago, George Carmack, Skookum Jim and Dawson Charlie first found gold at the Discovery Claim at Bonanza Creek in Dawson City. This discovery sparked the Yukon Gold Rush, which reached its heyday in 1898. Thousands of people from all over the world rushed to the Yukon with a dream - to discover gold.
At Inconnu Lodge, you probably won't spark another Yukon gold rush (and you won't find anyone named Skookum either), but you can discover gold. So while at the lodge, grab a pan, dig into the edges of a calm stream, and sift out a few flakes of gold. Unlike fishing, panning for gold does not operate on a "Catch and Release" basis - you can keep everything that you find and take it home.

River Drift Trips
The newest addition to Inconnu's fleet are four inflatable drift rafts. The rafts come complete with two captain chairs and a rowing frame for your guide. Imagine being flown to a remote river by floatplane or helicopter, inflating your raft and quietly floating an untouched Yukon river. Drift into that perfect hole, drop anchor and throw your favorite fly into the many pockets and pools that lie in front of. Then imagine, later in the day, hearing the helicopter flying downstream towards you and finding you fishing and enjoying everything Inconnu Lodge has too offer.
The peaceful tranquility of a drift allows you to quietly encounter wildlife of all species while fishing and exploring miles and miles of virgin waters.
